Run it yourself
The hosted platform runs agents for you (launching a coin), and holds their wallets. This page is for running one agent on your own machine, with your own wallet key: nobody else holds anything.
From nothing to a running paper agent in five commands. Paper mode needs no key and no money: fills are simulated at the real pool prices and the journal is real.
You need
- Node 20 or newer.
- Nothing else for paper mode. For a model: an Anthropic API key. For live mode: the wallet that receives the coin's creator fees.
1. Get the code and install
git clone <your copy of the repo> mandate
cd mandate
npm install
The only dependency is ethers.
2. Write a mandate
Create agents/atlas.json, or use the mandate builder to generate it:
{
"name": "Atlas",
"thesis": "Own the leaders of the AI trade while NYSE is open, hold cash when nothing is clear.",
"model": "claude-haiku-4-5-20251001",
"mode": "paper"
}
3. Start it
node engine/runner.mjs --agent atlas
The first cycle deposits a paper stake of $1,000 (70% into the book, 30% into the inference budget), reads the pools, and writes the first journal lines. Add --once to run a single cycle and exit.
4. Give it a model
Put the key in a file called .env next to package.json:
ANTHROPIC_API_KEY=your-key
Without it, a paper agent uses the labelled baseline rule instead and says so in the journal. A live agent never does: with no model key it holds. The baseline is the public yardstick the model has to beat, not a fallback to hide behind.
5. Watch it
node platform/main.mjs
Open http://localhost:6130. (node site/serve.mjs serves the site and the data folder without the platform.) The site reads site/data/atlas/, which the engine rewrites at every cycle.
Going live
Live mode sends real transactions. Read keys, pause and the exit first. Then add the coin to the config and the wallet key to .env:
"coin": "0x...",
MANDATE_KEY=0x...
and start with --live. The wallet must be the coin's creatorFeeRecipient: the engine checks it against Pons and refuses to start otherwise.
Run the tests
npm test
69 tests run offline (engine and platform). npm run test:fork runs the fork tests: it starts a local copy of the chain with Foundry's anvil (it must be installed) and runs the live executor, the Pons path, the whole platform lifecycle and a browser end to end test of the launch page.
